Murals & Community Projects

Ithaca Artist Market 2024

Melrose Chalk Walk 2021

The Chalk Walk (in my hometown, Melrose, Massachusetts) is Follow Your Art's annual fundraiser for Arts for All, an organization promoting equity & inclusion through tuition assistance, adaptive services, & outreach programs to underserved communities. I was lucky enough to be an artist who got to create a sponsored chalk art square in front of our town's city hall.

Final Mural painted by Silvia López Chavez on Melrose High School (2021)

Melrose High School Mural

During my junior year of high school, my school hired the incredible artist & muralist, Silvia López Chavez, to paint a mural on the side of our building. I was part of the student team that designed the mural and presented it to the public when it was finished. We spent a few weeks talking about what we wanted to include in it, and then one day during one of my online zoom classes (oops), I created the design (left) which ended up being chosen to be painted. The mural was created right after we returned from COVID, so we wanted to represent resilience and community. I thought of using triangles in the 'M' because triangles are a strong shape and can handle a lot of stress. (Next time you see a bridge, notice how many triangles are worked into the design!) Silvia and the team made some changes to the design and the final product came out even better! This was such a cool project to be a part of, and I love seeing the mural whenever I'm home.

Foundation Trust Mural

I was able to be a part of a group of local artists who painted this mural at the Complex Trauma Treatment Center, in order to create a calming environment for young patients. This was truly an awesome experience and I am extremely grateful to Follow Your Art for providing this opportunity.
